Book A Call

Devin's Journey In a Nutshell

Headlin

2010-2012

Devin joined Toastmasters international to learn about public speaking so he could promote his book, One Half Invincible.

It turned out that Devin wasn't a great speaker.

Devin immersed himself into the world of public speaking; reading books, going to conferences, speaking as much as possible, and entering speech competitions.

2013-2017

Devin was pushed into helping train a group of Air Cadets in 2013.

It turned out he enjoyed the challenge and Air Cadet Squadron 777 won 1st place in the national speaking competition the first year, and 2nd place the second year.

Devin started getting the odd training gig. Success continued as he worked with TEDX, CNIB, RCMP, and city hall staff.

2018-2022

Devin earned the distinguished toastmaster award and took the business side seriously.  He developed a speaking program and started training on a daily basis.

In 2019 Devin landed a contract with Cowell Auto Group and that started Bisanz Advanced Speaker Training.

Then, the pandemic struck so Devin took training online and trained 1,000 students from around the world on Zoom.

2023

Devin is a member of The Canadian Association of Professional Speakers and is going after 5 figure corporate contracts.

Devin is writing a new book with a working title: Beyond Words; Body Language For Public Speakers.

Devin still hopes to publish the book he set out to promote back in 2010.

Now for the rest of the story...

This story goes back 30 years before 2010; a small town boy, farm bred and raised.

Public speaking was the last thing on Devin's radar as he tore up back roads on dirt bikes and snowmobiles.

He had a small town life working in a sawmill when he was 20 years old.

But he didn't want a small town life.

One day Devin quit his job to leave and explore Canada.

That same day his street bike was rear-ended and Devin was blessed with a traumatic brain injury. Joking.

For the next 7 years Devin had to deal with diagnosis's from all kinds of neurologists, psychologists, and doctors who gave labels and prescribed pills.

At first, Devin stayed strong, he was playing sports and he bought a house to rent to university students.

Life was good.

But when lawyer's are building a case for a lawsuit they don't want a superhero self. They want your friends to say, "He's different. He's changed!"

You could almost do anything bad and your lawyer would say, "He's just changed so much since the accident."

Maybe Devin was different...

Long story short Devin became a cocaine dealer and started snorting small amounts of drugs.

Devin met the girl of his dreams and decided to move to the big city of Vancouver BC.

The next few years were up and down. A multi-level marketing business flourished then crumbled, and Devin ended up stealing his own car for insurance, and living in Whalley BC.

The girl of his dreams dumped Devin.

Devin learned that rock bottom has a basement, and mining shaft below that.

The lawyers liked this victim Devin, but right before he was supposed to take the stand and tell a judge that he was a victim... Devin dug deep and found that inner hero.

Devin's lawyers were super pissed when Devin called the lawsuit off and took a tiny payout.

Devin didn't care.

Devin started writing a book that many people liked and told him to publish.

Devin joined Toastmasters international to learn about public speaking so he could promote his book, One Half Invincible.

And Now you know the rest of the story!

Oh wait, Devin met the real girl of his dreams, they got married and had the most wonderful baby girl imaginable.
